By applying for the truth Impact Scholarships (each, a “Scholarship” and collectively, the “Scholarships”), you agree to abide by the terms and conditions set forth below, and any failure to do so may result in disqualification from consideration. 

All decisions of Truth Initiative regarding awarding the Scholarships are final and binding in all respects.

ELIGIBILITY: Individuals ages 16-25 who reside in the United States and who are enrolled in good standing in, and are pursuing a degree from, an accredited two-year or four-year college or university within the United States (a “Qualified Higher Education Establishment”) are eligible to apply for a truth Impact Scholarship. However, employees of Truth Initiative and their immediate family members (spouse, domestic partner, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible to apply.  

APPLICATION PERIOD: Applications may be submitted commencing at Midnight EDT September 12th, 2023, and must be submitted no later than 11:59 PM EDT, November 5th, 2023.

APPLYING FOR THE SCHOLARSHIPS: Truth Initiative will be awarding three (3) $5,000 scholarships in 2023.  The Scholarship Awards will be granted on a competitive basis based on the totality of each application submission.  Each awarded truth Impact Scholarship (and any Honorable Mention awards) will be paid on behalf of the selected winner directly to the Qualified Higher Education Establishment at which such selected winner is enrolled.  Under no circumstances will the Scholarship awards (and any Honorable Mention awards) be paid directly to the winners.  The truth Impact Scholarship winners (and any Honorable Mention awards) will be selected in the sole discretion of Truth Initiative, based on the quality of their written application and video submission, demonstrated commitment and service to the environment, mental health, and/or social justice, demonstrated financial need, contributions to their community, and a personal interview.  Applicants may also be asked to provide letters of recommendation.  Individuals may apply for the Scholarships at the following website:  https://www.thetruth.com/impact-scholarship. Applications and/or other submitted materials that are lost, late, incorrect, garbled or incompletely received, for any reason, including without limitation by hardware, software, browser or network failure, malfunction, congestion or incompatibility will not be eligible, and Truth Initiative assumes no responsibility for such applications.

THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS: Three Scholarship (3) winners (and any Honorable Mention awards) will be selected by a panel of application reviewers determined by Truth Initiative in its sole discretion. All winners will be notified in writing by Truth Initiative. Applicants are responsible for responding promptly to Truth Initiative’s efforts to contact them. Selected applicants are responsible for providing all necessary information, including proof of enrollment in good standing with a Qualified Higher Education Establishment and all other information needed in order to process and award the truth Impact Scholarships. If it is determined that a selected applicant is ineligible for a Scholarship award for any reason, or if a selected applicant does not accept the scholarship award despite several reasonable attempts by Truth Initiative to contact them, then Truth Initiative reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to select another applicant to receive the scholarship or not to award such scholarship. In no event will more than three (3) $5,000 Scholarships be awarded. No individual may win more than one of the Scholarships.  Selected applicants must verify their eligibility, including, without limitation, that they are currently enrolled in good standing in a Qualified Higher Education Establishment. Scholarship winners will be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility. In addition, Truth Initiative may, in its sole discretion, award one or more Honorable Mention awards, each in the amount of $1,000.

GENERAL CONDITIONS: In the event that the operation, security, or administration of the Scholarship application process is impaired in any way for any reason, including, but not limited to fraud, virus, or other technical problem, Truth Initiative may, in its sole discretion, suspend or discontinue the truth Impact Scholarship Program. Truth Initiative reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the application process or the operation of the truth Impact Scholarship Program or to be acting in a disruptive manner. Any attempt by any person to undermine the legitimate operation of the truth Impact Scholarship Program may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and Truth Initiative reserves all rights to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. The failure by truth Initiative to enforce any of its lawful rights shall not constitute a waiver of such rights.

PUBLICITY:  By applying for the truth Impact Scholarship, you grant to truth Initiative full permission and rights to use, in its sole discretion, your name, image, and likeness, as well as your video submission or parts thereof and such other information about yourself as you may provide to Truth Initiative, in connection with any publicity about the Scholarship program in the event that you are a Scholarship winner (or an Honorable Mention awardee, if any). In addition, you waive the right to review and approve any and all such publicity. If you are selected as a winner of a truth Impact Scholarship or an Honorable Mention awardee, if any, you agree to work with Truth Initiative for any press opportunities including filmed interviews. You also agree to participate and be recognized in public Truth Initiative events like Moment of truth (a National Day of Action) and others.

PRIVACY: By applying for the truth Impact Scholarship, you agree to receive periodic emails and text messages from Truth Initiative. Of course, you may notify Truth Initiative that you do not wish to receive further communications at any time. For text messages, you may indicate that you do not wish to receive future messages from an organization by replying “STOP” to any such messages. RESULTS: A list of the scholarship winners will be available at thetruth.com/impactscholarship starting on February 15th, 2024, through June 30th, 2024.
