Illinois has made strides to reduce online sales of tobacco products to those under 21, requires retailers to hold a license to sell tobacco products, and has been a leader in restricting advertising of tobacco products to young people. While the state does not have a low prohibiting the sale of flavored tobacco products, Chicago, River Forest, Skokie and Gurnee have passed laws restricting sale of some flavored products or restricting retailers from being near schools.

AG Shoutout – Kwame Raoul

Illinois AG Kwame Raoul received $67.6 million from the JUUL settlement, and committed to using the funds to enforce vaping laws, treatment, and programs to prevent underage nicotine use. He was also part of a letter in 2019 calling for streaming services to avoid showing tobacco imagery. Thanks for showing up for a nicotine-free future, AG Raoul!
