Chuggin' On Clouds
“Safer than smoking” doesn’t make it safe.
You probably didn’t need a rap video to tell you that, because smoking is pretty much one of the worst things you can do for your body. A LOT of things are safer than smoking. Plus, we still don’t know the long-term effects of JUUL. JUUL doesn’t even know the long-term effects of their product. Good research takes years to compile and these HOT NEW TRENDS haven’t exactly been around long enough to get good, solid research.
We’re not convinced products like JUUL are only being used by smokers looking to switch. And by “we’re not convinced,” we mean we are positive they’re not only being used by smokers. People who have never smoked a cigarette in their life are using JUUL and JUUL-like devices. Even JUUL’s early ads reminded us of old school Big Tobacco ads—happy, bright, colorful images of Young People using their products. Which is not great, considering JUUL and other e-cigs contain high levels of nicotine, which is incredibly addictive. One JUUL pod contains the same amount of nicotine as 20 cigarettes, according to JUUL’s own website. Not only is nicotine highly addictive, but chronic exposure to it can have a lasting impact on the development of the brain. *And* early research shows vaping can damage blood vessels and weaken your immune system.
